John Pawson for Demeyere stockpot
This unique pan is available in two different sizes and is designed for optimum form and functionality.
John Pawson has been designing buildings and objects for 25 years, and so knows a lot about design and functionality. His products have a uniquely abstract quality and conform to a union of functionality and form. He believes kitchens are the heart of the house and so has designed his products to feel and look good, whilst being efficient down to the finer details.
The casseroles, saucepans and stock pots have walls of stainless steel with a heat conducting 7 layer base, which Demeyere have named InductoSeal. A copper disc in the base ensures optimal heat distribution. The saute and frying pans have a 7 ply material made up of 7 different alloys including stainless steel and an aluminium core. This material extends right up to the rim of the pans, ensuring that the heat is evenly spread throughout the whole of the pan.
The pans have been designed for optimum hygiene: there are no interior screws and the bases are hermetically sealed meaning there are no places for food to build up inside to cause bacteria. They are dishwasher safe and are finished with Silvinox. This is Demeyeres unique surface treatment which removes iron and impurities, enriching the stainless steel, and it also alleviates fingerprints.
The handles remain cool on electric cookers, though on gas they may heat up due to the spread of the flames. The lid also should remain cool whilst in use, and it helps to create energy efficient pan but sealing and insulating the heat within the pan, meaning that less heat needs to be used while cooking. The John Pawson pans can be used on all heat surfaces.
